Review 1798: Owner, Colletta di Castelbianco - Flat BF
1bed/1bath apartment in Colletta di Castelbianco, near Alassio, Liguria
29 October 2005, Five days
Colletta di Castelbianco is a unique village just a few miles into the mountains from Alassio in Liguria. It's Italy's first internet village - but you'd never guess that when you walk the car-free streets of this ancient village at the foothills of the Maritime Alps. It's peaceful, beautiful and incredibly friendly, with people from all over the world visiting - some of whom work there as there's free broadband access.
There are lots of maps of walks which you can do directly from the village and some great agriturismo restaurants in the valley. With the clocks going back and dark descending on most of Northern Europe I was delighted to be eating gelati in the sun on the beach at Alassio, about 20 mins drive away, at the end of October!
Colletta is a magical place with a wonderful ambience. We stayed in Flat BF, a one bed apartment with a great new kitchen with full oven etc, a living room with a sofa bed and even a desk in the hall - not that we were there to work. However, it did get me thinking about the chance to work there in the future as it's not expensive ... You never know - if the British winter gets to me, I'll be off there again!!
There is a pool, but it was closed, and there's a sauna, which is a great idea! I'll definitely go back!
