The hosts are delightful. We recommend Le Manzinaie in the highest possible terms. One of my cousins practically insisited that we go there based on his great experience earlier this year, and he was absolutely right. I hope we don't sound too positive lest the reader think we are making this up, but the simple truth is we have never enjoyed a place more than Le Manzinaie. The hosts, Marzia, her husband, Fiore, and their daughter Alice, are warm and friendly. The day we arrived, they had a bottle of wine and fruit waiting for us for that evening, and, because they knew we were too late to go shopping, they had eggs, milk, bread, etc., in the refrigerator. We asked for directions to the surrounding area - they prepared a personalized itinerary (with maps) for our stay. The highlight of our stay was the family meal to which we and the fellow guests were invited. We were the only Americans at the table, and despite our rusty Italian from our junior year in Rome (32 years ago!), we felt very much at home. Both Marzie and Alice speak excellent English, and Fiore is a great cook! We stayed in the Rose apartment; it was beautiful, clean, and romantic. The location of Le Manzinaie is great; Assisi, Siena, Florence, Montepulciano, etc. were at the most an hour and a half away. If you are going to Tuscany, you should go to Le Manzinaie.
