Two apartments and cottage on a farm outside Montemelino, near Perugia, Umbria WhenOctober 2001 ReviewVilla Rosa is a cottage in Umbria where we stayed last October 2001. Villa Rosa is a charming place in a lovely area of Umbria, an excellent base to explore surrounding towns and villages from. It's a short walk from the tiny village of Montelemino, which boasts an excellent restaurant, and 15 kms from Perugia. We stayed in the self catering cottage in the garden, which had been newly renovated. Downstairs there is a modern kitchen leading onto the living area with French doors opening onto a patio area and a gorgeous view over the valley. Next to the living area is a bedroom with double bed, this opens out also to the patio area. Next to the bedroom is a roomy bathroom. A spiral staircase leads upstairs to a study (with single bed) and the second bedroom with double bed, and bathroom (with the best shower in Italy!!). The upper area also looks over the glorious view. The cottage is very comfortable, and very tastefully renovated, retaining much of its original style. There is a library of interesting books to read (should one have the time), and new magazines to peruse. In fact everything seems to have been thought of. The farm house with two guest bedrooms are also lovely, the guest area being separate from the rest of the house. The owners are charming and extremely helpful, providing useful information on the area and excellent directions to places. We had a wonderful weeks stay there.
