Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 185: Windows on Italy, Verrocchio
2bed/2bath apartment, Florence
Month of February, 2002, 4 weeks
Excellent location one block from Duomo.
We walked for everything. Easy access for groceries, street markets and restaurants. Very central location.
Building was wonderful, there were other apartments, but our's was a courtyard location with no one above us. It was quiet and secure. The only noise was from church bells!
Beautiful courtyard garden that was considered shared, but really only served our apartment plus one other.
Furniture and furnishings were in good shape with nice decor. The apt was very clean. There was a well placed desk with an RJ11 phone jack nearby, and I was able to connect via laptop easily. The dining table had several extra matching chairs for a total of 8 I believe.
The bedrooms were nicely done and the beds were comfortable. We were on them for a month! We especially liked how dark and quiet they were. One bedroom and bathroom was upstairs and there was also a small loft room at the top of the stairs with a pull-out couch. The other bedroom/bathroom was downstairs. They were nicely tiled and had excellent water pressure and temperature.
The kitchen was wonderful and well equipped. We had everything we needed for a variety of home-cooked meals. We also liked how the refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machine were "hidden" in the cabinetry. It was quite handsome.
Problems or Bonuses
ALL GOOD, with only pleasant surprises. We were a party of 3 adults and 2 small children. We only have good things to say about the apartment.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The agency was very attentive and had excellent communications with us from start to finish. They spoke excellent English and the apartment was accurately represented. In fact, they don't do the apartment justice in the descriptions. They were helpful beyond expectations.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Yes, we recommend it highly. It was charming, lovely and relaxing.
EXCEPTION: due to the 2 floor layout, it could be more challenging for those that might have difficulty with navigating the steep cement stairs to the 2nd floor bedroom.
Things to do in this area
Everything was within walking distance: Duomo, San Lorenzo, Palazzo Pitti, Ponte Vecchio. We did it all on foot.
