1bed/1bath apartment near Campo dei Fiori, Rome

December 2005, 6 nights

Fabulous central location, across the river to Trastevere (10 minutes), near Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona (5-10 muinutes). The street was very fashionable, lots of antiques stores and shops etc. Loved the area.

Nearby Amenities

Coffee bar close by, nearest groceries were at the market in the Campo dei Fiori, some restaurants, not too many close by.

The House/Apartment

This apartment was very tiny. There was an outside door on the street then you step inside and the door is on your left. There were more apartments in this building, just not sure how many. The apartment had a small loft with a small bed. In the living room a pullout couch.

No outside sitting area.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in OK shape. This place was so tiny that when you pulled out the sofa bed there was no room to walk and it almost was at the front door. The apartment was clean but there was mold on the walls and the ceiling in the bathroom. There was a small table that was attached to the wall and two chairs.

The beds were OK, the bathroom was very tiny but sufficient. Although if you are a large person you would have difficulty getting into the shower. It was a shower stall with doors.

The kitchen had two hot plates, a small fridge and sink. It was fine for breakfast and small meals. There was also a tiny toaster oven and electric kettle.

Problems or Bonuses

The surprise was how tiny it was. The mold on the walls was not a good thing but perhaps not uncommon for a ground floor flat? The bonus was the location.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The agency was very professional but when we got to the apartment we were told the owner would greet us and she was not there. The cleaner was there and spoke NO english. This was difficult because you want to ask questions about how things work. She did call the owner but she did not speak much more English than the cleaner and did not seem too interested. We asked for two keys and were told we could not have two keys but the cleaner left one. So on the day we were to leave we had no idea if we were to leave the keys inside the apartment or was the owner coming to get a set before we left? Our cell phone did not work so we ended up just leaving both sets of keys there.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Overall I would not recommend this apartment. It was uncomfortably tiny and I did not like the mold thing. Also no info left in the apartment and no communication with the owner was just strange. By the time we left we finally figured out how things worked.
