apartments on an estate in Lamole, near Greve, Tuscany Chianti WhenApril 2005, 7 days LocationOur marvelous rental is in the hills outside Greve in Chianti, near Lamole, on a hilltop with vineyards all around. A beautiful place, a renovated "castle", very comfortable and pleasant. A marvelous mountain stream that flowed in a ravine close by, ancient and reverred for the curative power of the water. The castle is operated by the Marisco family, and they are excellent hosts, very gracious. Nearby AmenitiesA very fine restaurant is operated on the site by the Marisco family; it is full service and very fine indeed. A spectacular view, excellent biscotti, wonderful food and company, and Don Marisco may grace your dinner with his singing and guitar playing - a real treat! A short drive to Greve in Chianti is where the grocery store and other amenities are offered; very nice and quaint village. The House/ApartmentWe rented a small one bedroom apartment but they offer larger accommodations as well. Our apartment was very suitable and charming with a beautiful view of the valley; we were able to prepare meals in the apartment. GardenVery nice outside sitting area overlooking the vineyards and valley below and the surrounding hills, each unit has a small area like this. There is a swimming pool available in the summer time. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasVery clean and comfortable; well cared for and maintained. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were very comfortable and a large window opened onto a view of the valley. Bathroom was small but clean and nice. KitchenKitchen is self-contained in a large pantry area, very compact and serviceable, adaquate for our needs. They do offer larger apartments with larger kitchens. We enjoyed making some of our own meals in the apartment. Problems or BonusesVery surprised at the wonderful hospitality and friendliness of the family and staff. Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked directly with the family via internet; English is spoken. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?We highly recommend this beautiful rental to all; it is a wonderful place away from the tourist crowds. Things to do in this areaGreve in Chianti has excellent restaurants and shops; driving around tuscany, to Siena and elsewhere is the best of the best.
