Review 1938: Rental in Rome, Vicky Penthouse
1bed/1bath apartment near Cavour metro, Rome
March 2005, 8 days
The Vicky penthouse apartment was located exactly as is was portrayed at the Rental in rome website on the map. The location was very convenient to the Cavour metro station and it was convenient for walking to the ancient sites that interested us.
There was a grocery store one block away that seemed to be open all the time. Our favorite restarant was one metro stop away at Colessum. You could walk to Santa Maria Maggiore easily. The apartment was was one Metro stop away from Termini which I had heard can be rauncy at night, but we never felt unsafe walking to the apartmnet form the metro stop even very late at night. We actually saw few people around at all at night.
The apartment was supposedly a 17th century building that had been remodeled. Could have been. It was clean. The hot water and the toilet functioned. The windows opened. The view was very nice. You could see the dome of Santa Maria Maggiore from the loft window. There was heat and it worked. It was so quiet it was hard to tell there was anyone else in the building. The apartment was on the fifth floor with an elevator.
There was a terrace, but it hadn't been cared for. It was nice to go outside anyway.
The apartment was clean. The funrniture was Ok. The bed was comfortable. The apartment looked excatly as it had in the pictures on the Rental in Rome site.
The 2 twin beds were comfortable. There was one bathroom and the toilet and sink functioned. The hot water was tepid, but I heard that is pare for the course in Rome.
There was a usable kitchen, but we only made rudimentary breakfast there. We couldn't last until Italian resturants opend for lunch at 1 pm. There were pots and pans. We ate at restaurants mostly because we didn't come to Italy to cook for ourselves.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
About 2 weeks before we were supposed to leave for Rome, Rental in Rome contacted us and told us that the original apartment we rented (Rosanna) was water damaged and we had to stay at a different apartment. All the choices offered were more expensive that the original choice. I have seen online that Rental in Rome has done this to other travelors (switched them at the last moment), so I wonder if there really was anything worng with the original apartment? We picked the Vicky apartment and had no problems, but I wonder about this. The Rosanna apartment is still up that their web site. How many of those apartments really exist for rent?
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We stayed at the Rental in Rome Vicky penthouse. I can recommend that. About dealing with rental in Roem I am not sure.
Things to do in this area
La Piazzetta near the Colosseum. Santa Maria Maggiore. The Roman Forum - not too far to walk.
