Review 197: Rome Sweet Home, Via Rasella
2bed/1.5bath apartment near Trevi, Rome
March 2002, 5 nights
Location, on Via Rasella was great, near the Trevi and Metro.
Everything was within 1 block, couldn't ask for anything more.
Our apartment was on the 5th floor of a nice building. We only saw others in the building 3 times. Our apartment was the only vacation rental.
We were on the top floor. We had a huge patio, bigger the whole apartment.
The apartment was clean with plenty of seating.
1.5 baths with a real shower stall.
Typical european kitchen, very functional.

Agency and Representatives (and price)
Rome sweet home was very quick to confirm the booking. Later, when doing research on our street, I found that a firm in England was renting the same apartment for $300 less for the week. I wrote RSH and asked if they couold match the price. After sending 4 e-mails, they wrote back with a quick "no". OK, that's fine, they already had our deposit so I dropped it.
Check in was fine, I asked for 4 sets of keys as we were 4 and wouldn't always be together. They only gave 2 sets. On the second day, the electricity went out in the whole building. Luckly, I carry a small pen light and was able to find some candles. The stairwell was pitch black and the lift was out.
The next morning, no electric, no hot water and no lift. We were given 3 phone numbers that I tried to call for help. We wanted to be moved or something.
The first number was out of order, the second was a fax machine, the third was "only the key holder, I know nothing". The electric came back on after 30 hours. The frig defrosted and water was everywhere. Food we bought was bad. The lift was out for 3 days. Up and down to the 5th floor in that stairwell was a real workout.
When we got home, I sent 6 e-mails over 10 days about our problems. We were asking for a partial, resonable refund as all was not well and we did not get everything we expected.
After e-mail 6, I got a short reply saying that we "enjoyed and consumed the apartment" and we were due nothing.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
If the building had electricity, it would have been fine. With this agency, Romesweethome, your on your own if something out of the ordinary happens.
