house in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, Tuscany Chianti WhenMarch 2006, one week LocationThe villa is located in the Chianti region of Tuscany. The area has incredible views of the Tuscan countryside. The nearest towns are San Casciano in Val di Pesa and Bargino; it is located 15 kms south of Florence. Other towns in Tuscany are easily reached through the Italian autostrade. Nearby AmenitiesRestaurants and supermarkets are a short driving distance. The House/ApartmentThe building is a castle restored with the old charm, and the villa is comfortable and charming. There are several other villas in the same castle. GardenThe castle has a beautiful pool, outdoor sitting areas and a ping pong table. Bicycles are available for the guests. Some of the villas have private sitting areas. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe villa was clean and in excellent shape; the furniture is consistent with the period of the castle. The living room has satellite TV, and the dining room is located right in the kitchen. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were definitely not comfortable for us, but we are used to softer beds than the one we had at the villa. The bathrooms are small but functional. KitchenThe kitchen is very well equipped. We cooked several dinners in the villa, and we felt like cooking at home. Problems or BonusesMaybe if the showers were a little bit bigger? Agency and Representatives (and price)Rentvillas.com was the agency that booked our trip; I will use them again in a heartbeat, their service is excellent and they are focused on detail. The onsite person spoke perfect English with a very funny Italian accent. She is a very nice person and was always ready to help us. The price we paid for our stay was worth it. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We certainly recommend this vacation rental, we will never forget this experience. Things to do in this areaThere are many things to do in Tuscany, it is all up to you... from fancy Florence with its museums and gorgeous cathedral, to beautiful Tuscan countryside. It is worthwhile to mention our visit to Cortona, this place is one of the nicest towns in Tuscany, the film "Under the Tuscan Sun" doesn't do it justice. We also enjoyed our visits to San Gimignano, Arezzo, Siena and Greve. We only ate at Mamma Rossa's, which is a nearby restaurant and has the best food and service one can get.
