Review 2000: Easy Reserve, Il Doccio

apartments on estate near Terranuova, Tuscany East

Location

Located about 5 minutes from Terranuova, which is close to Montevarchi just off the A1 highway. Excellent location for making daytrips to Siena, Arezzo, Florence, Cortona. Most places were within 20-30 minutes driving time. The villa itself in a country setting, very nice.

Nearby Amenities

An easy 5 minute drive gets you to either Terranuova or Loro Ciuffenna. Good restaurants in both places. In Montevarchi there is a huge supermarket with everything possible for sale. I suggest shopping on Saturday when you arrive before check-in.

The House/Apartment

The renovated farmhouse has been restored nicely while still maintaining the 'old world' charm of the rustic farmhouse. Inside the villa there are four units. I think there are two one-bedroom units, a three-bedroom unit and a two-bedroom unit. The owner lives a few hundred meters away which was just perfect. They are very friendly and the free cooking lesson was much appreciated!!

Garden

There is a private outside area for each unit and the pool is, of course, shared. The time of year we traveled didn't allow us to use the pool but it looked very inviting! The olive grove behind the villa and the stream running in front of the villa make a very tranquil setting.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in good shape and comfortable. Very clean with enough pots, pans and dishes for us.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bedroom was good size with a double bed and ensuite bathroom with shower. Bathroom fixtures are all new and very nice. Again very clean.

Kitchen

Kitchen area is fine for 2 people. There is a stove, refrigerator, sink, coffee maker. All the basics you need are there.

Problems or Bonuses

The best surprise was Marina and Francesco (the owners). They were warm and friendly, speak good English and couldn't have been more helpful. From the driving directions to the great recommendations for local restaurants. We'll be back for sure!

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The agency we dealt with was Tuscany Villas. Our contact was Lucia who was just fantastic. She dealt with all our questions promptly. She spoke and wrote good English. Also spoke with the USA office once regarding the payment and had no problems at all. Next time we travel we will contact them again.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I highly recommend this villa. I plan on making a return trip myself in the fall.

Things to do in this area

Lots to do in the area. The local restaurants were great and the daytrips to Siena, Arezzo and Cortona were the highlights of the trip.
