Review 2031: Apartments2book.com, Donati Apartment (18 - Living in Florence)

Review by Jewels from US

3bed/2.5bath apartment, via della Pergola, Florence

April 2006, 7 days

The Donati is on Via Della Pergola, just east of the Duomo. It's in a residential area that's safe and convenient.

Nearby Amenities

A well-equipped grocery store is about 10 minutes away on foot. Lots of small restaurants, bakeries and shops nearby.

The House/Apartment

The apartment is in a historical building that partly renovated and was undergoing more renovations while we were there. All in all, the building seemed well maintained. There were three or four other apartment rentals in the building.

There's a small terrace in the rear -- seats four comfortably -- overlooking a courtyard. Was very pleasant, especially when the weather was nice.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was serviceable but not great. A few spots on the fabric here and there. The living room had a sofa and two chairs.

All the bathrooms had been renovated and were adequate, not lavish. The main bath had a shower stall.

All appliances in the kitchen were new. We generally thought the kitchen was okay, though we really didn't cook much except for breakfast.

Problems or Bonuses

There was a nice bedroom in an upstairs loft that had its own full bath. It seemed odd that this room had two twin beds, when it easily could have served as the master bedroom. Neither of the other bedrooms had its own bathroom. Also, the building had a new washing machine that came in handy, and as part of the ongoing renovation, another washer and a dryer were being installed. We controlled the heating, which worked well. Can't discuss the a/c because we didn't need it.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Adriana, the local contact, was very friendly and helpful. They answered my emails promptly leading up the rental.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay there again, but you should be aware that you're going to get routine city noise -- sirens, scooters, etc. If you crave absolute quiet, this isn't the place for you.

Things to do in this area

The real plus of this apartment is its location, convenient to almost everything: Duomo, museums, Ponte Vecchio, train station, etc. We used a taxi once to get to the train station with our bags, and we took the bus once to Piazzale Michelangelo. We were able to walk to just about everything else.
