My husband and I spent a wonderful week at Agriturismo Le Cretaiole in Tuscany. It is close to Montalcino, Siena, Montepulciano, and many others. Le Cretaiole is a 13th century villa that has been renovated and is situated on a hilltop with a panoramic view of Val d'Orcia with it's beautiful rolling hills. There are six apartments in the farmhouse. We stayed in a very comfortable two room apartment (spacious living area with fireplace, kitchen, large bathroom, and bedroom with queen/king bed, amoire, and dresser with mirror).

Although the beauty of the countryside was awesome and unforgettable, the people who own Le Cretaiole and run it are the most beautiful, sincere, and genuine people we have ever had the pleasure to know. Their greatest satisfaction comes from seeing their guests happy, comfortable, and enjoying the land, culture, people, and history of Tuscany. Isabella and her husband Carlo make you feel like family. They have a beautiful energetic seven year old son. Isabella speaks several languages and has written a guidebook (one in every apartment) detailing information about the towns, sights, restaurants, wine tastings in the area, etc. There are detailed directions and maps to the towns and sights. Renting a car and driving to the towns in the area is highly recommended. Free activities including a pici (homemade pasta) making class with other guests and a tour of the Hermitage (an Etruscan tomb)on their property are included if you want to participate. We thoroughly enjoyed both of these activities. Isabella is passionate about her work, which is making guests feel very comfortable in their home away from home.

We are sorry we didn't have the opportunity to meet Carlo's parents, who were on Holiday during our stay. They also are very involved in the workings of Le Cretaiole. For us, Le Cretaiole was like experiencing a little bit of heaven on earth and we look forward to returning one day in the future.
