2bed/3bath house near San Gimignano, Tuscany West WhenMay 2006, 1 week LocationThis was a perfect location, surrounded on all sides by vineyards and olive groves, yet a short walk from the San Mateo entrance to San Gimignano. There is one building on the same site which is the owners house. It is a gated property with covered parking. Nearby AmenitiesSan Gimignano which was an amazing town with wonderful restaurants, sites, coffee. There is a grocery store (COOP) in San Gimignano and a PAM in Poggibonsi about 15 minutes away. Local vineyards are very close for wine tasting and tours. The House/ApartmentTuscan dwelling, stone, very neat and clean. There was a small kitchen with a stovetop, two small refrigerators, sink, washing machine and a living room downstairs with a futon and full bathroom/shower. Windows open up to an amazing view of the countryside and vineyards. GardenThere is a open area with chairs, table, grill overlooking the olive trees. There is a large swimming pool which was clean, well maintained which had chairs and lounges around it. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasClean. Furniture was comfortable, a little older, but adequate. Bedrooms/BathroomsUpstairs were two large bedrooms with two double beds (actually two twin beds pushed together). Mattresses were okay. Both bedrooms had high ceilings, again beautiful vantages of the countryside and full bathrooms. The bathrooms each had a toilet, bidet, sink and shower. No hairdryer. It would have been nice if there was a little shelf or medicine cabinet to put our toiletries. They gave us a package of clean linens when we arrived but we had to make the beds; should have been done for us. KitchenWe did not cook but there all utilities were there if needed including a microwave and coffee machine. Problems or BonusesIt was great to be able to walk into town. The owners were very nice and accomodating although they spoke little English. They have two friendly dogs; at times you would hear them and a dog across the street barking as well as a rooster, in the mornings. They have a small vineyard and have wine for you to drink in the villa; you pay for them at the end. We would highly recommend this property. I think the beds should have been made and there should be a small cabinet in the bathroom. Agency and Representatives (and price)Very well, reasonable price. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes highly recommend this based on location and cleanliness. Things to do in this areaRestaurants, touring, wine tasting (go to Pietraserena up the street). This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
