5bed/4bath villa near Todi, Umbria WhenMay 2006, 2 weeks LocationTorre del Mago is located just outside of Todi in the countryside in a spectacular location. The pool and garden has views of Todi. What you would call a really big view. It was in easy distance to two small villages and only six minute drive from Todi. The villa is boardered by a private vineyard were we had a special breakfast. We had complete privacy and the area was wonderful. We took walks daily through vineyards, small villages and historical ruins Nearby AmenitiesWe were only three or four minutes from Grutti and a great restaurant, Le Noci. There was a major market at the bottom of the hill as well as coffee bars, pizzarias and small shops. The House/ApartmentTorre del Mago is a stone farm house and tower, right out of an archetectual magazine. The ground floor has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a large living room with fireplace, open kitchen and access to a large covered terrace that is furnished with large dining table, sofa and comfortable chairs. There is a guest room attached via a breezway that has a queensize bed and large bathroom. Upstairs is a large living area, kitchenette, dining area and a loft with a queensize bed and full bathroom. GardenThe pool is exceptionally large and has amazing views of Todi and Monte Castello. There is comfortable pool furniture and umbrellas. Not a large number of trees but the garden is well landscaped. Outdoor sitting area had views of Todi and the mountains. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture was very tastefully done. We had daily housekeeping and there was more than enough room for all of us. We each had together and seperate space. Bedrooms/BathroomsBedrooms were all rather spacious, beds were all queensize, one room had two twins. Bathrooms were all modern and done in Italian stonework KitchenVery nice kitchen had everything you could possibly need and more. We actually had a cook for four of the days we were there. The kitchen is nice and open so we could visit with Leyla (the owner's sister) or each other. She was very friendly and gave us lessons! Problems or BonusesWe were very surprised at the quality of the villa and the service. The agency, Umbrian Garden, had someone meet us and escort us to the villa. They even had groceries for us when we arrived. Agency and Representatives (and price)We worked with Umbrian Garden. Our on-site person was great. Kimberly spoke English, Italian and a number of other languages. The place was much nicer than we expected. The agency recommended this villa in particular. They even arranged for rental cars to be delivered to the villa and a car service picked us up from the airport. My father is in a wheel chair and they made a lot of special arrangements for us. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I highly recommend the villa and the agency. My best friend was with me and agrees! Things to do in this areaWe went everywhere. The villa is very well located for traveling around. Kimberly gave us a list of her favorite restaurants and did not disapoint. We highly recommend Pane e Vino in Todi, Le Noci in Grutti.
