3bed/2.5baths house, on Borgo Pinti, Florence

Location

The house was located within five minutes from the Duomo on Borgo Pinti in the heart of Florence. It is a quite narrow street, but frequented by students and lots of walkers. We felt totally safe the entire time. The house is in the back of a three story apartment building, facing the main house and yard. It has a private garden as well. We walked to everything from the house. The farthest point was Ponte Vecchio and it was only a 20 minutes walk. Very close to San Lorenzo Market.

Nearby Amenities

A small grocery/bar was next door. The supermercato was only about 800 meters away and an easy walk. Great restaurants like La Giostra and Antico Noe were less than three minues away.

The House/Apartment

The house is amazing. You enter the apartment into a nice, but small living room. Immediately to the right is a large dining room and nice small kitchen. There is a laundry room and a full bath with shower. From the first floor there are two lofts. The first has a queen sized bed and a half bath. Draw back to this room is there are no closets or bureaus; you have to live out of your suitcase or use the closet on the first floor. There is a second loft with a twin bed and bureau via a separate staircase.

From the first floor there is a staircase to the basement where there is a large sitting room, a big queen bedroom, a full bath with shower and a workout room. There is lots of light and it is a great place. There are no bathtubs in the house, only showers. The only other real drawback is that there are no doors on any bedrooms; it is a very open situation except for the basement room. But even there, if my parents were talking in the second floor loft, I could hear every word from my bed in the basement. So, it is great for families and friends who are "very" good friends; there is little privacy. Otherwise it is an incredible place. And it is air conditioned.

Garden

Yes, there is a private garden with a covered sitting area. There is a lovely little Koi pond as well. It was lovely for a glass of wine before going out in the evening.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Everything was great and in great shape. If we didn't have anything or when we didn't know how to work the washing machine, the landlord who lives next door was there in five minutes. They were very accomodating and wonderful.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

YES! Great beds and the bathrooms were very modern. Lots of hot water. Really great all the way around.

Kitchen

Kitchen was good but small. There was a small dishwasher, ample pots and pans. No real knives to speak of, but we only dined there for breakfast. It had all the necessary things: toaster, coffee maker (even an American one), fridge, stove, microwave. It was great.

Problems or Bonuses

Except for the lack of a real private space, this was great and I would definately rent it again. The garden was a real bonus. There are also two bikes available for your use at no charge.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Doorways was amazing in every way. They not only handled the house, but they anticipated many needs (like arranging a car for my parents) and just fixed them. I will have them arrange all my trips. The onsite people were the owners and particularly their son. He speaks English relatively well and is very amenible. The price at high season for the week was approximately $2,000 and does vary by season. The place surpassed the pictures on the website. Definately a 5 star place.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would recommend this place without reservation. If you can handle the privacy issue; it is amazing.

Things to do in this area

La Giostra (see my travel report) is just down the street and is divine in all ways. It is near everything. The San Lorenzo market is about eight minutes away on foot. If you rent a car, there is a very reasonable garage (20 Euros per day) only two blocks away and open 24 hours.
