5bed/5.5bath house, near Castellina in Chianti, Tuscany Chianti

Location

Casa Fermentin is located on a working estate which produces grapes, wine and olive oil. It is between Castellina in Chianti and Poggibonsi. The road to Poggibonsi is narrow but paved. It takes about 15 minutes to get there.

Nearby Amenities

There is a good Coop in Poggibonsi. The nearest restaurant is La Strolla, about five minutes drive.

The House/Apartment

The house had been a typical Tuscan farmhouse - animals below and people above. The owner has done a lovely restoration. All bedrooms had ensuite baths (only one had a tub) and were very comfortable rooms. It was extremenly quiet, except for the early morning birds! There is a smaller house adjacent to this one which can be rented with this one. All bedrooms are on the second floor with rather long and steep interior stairs.

Garden

There is a nice private dining area outside and a gorgeous infinity pool with lots of seating around it.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Everything was in excellent condition and impeccably clean. Lots of chairs for the very large dining table. Also an eating area in the kitchen.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Beds were comfortable. Bottom sheets were a tad small and tended to pop off during the night. Bathrooms were small but more than adequate. One issue, no where in the showers to put soap or shampoo. Plenty of very hot water.

Kitchen

Kitchen was excellent. No microwave. Lots of dishes, and pots and pans. All were high quality. Plenty of space to cook anything you might wish to prepare. Large refrigerator and there were even ice cube trays!

Problems or Bonuses

No surprises. This was a really comfortable house. It was a bit cool when we were there and we had the heat on a bit. Paid extra, of course, but it did a really good job.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Agency was fine. We had booked with them before. The owner is the onsite person. His English is okay.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Absolutely. We liked the location - so beautiful. It would be a great place to vacation in the summer when you could really use the pool. The setting is stunning. You really can't see anything but vineyards from the windows.

Things to do in this area

A vehicle is necessary for this location. Castellina is not very far away. La Strolla is the nearest restaurant and we enjoyed it for a couple of meals. Il Pestello is fairly close and it is excellent too.
