WhenMay 2006, 1 week LocationThis is a bautiful property 10 km from Florence on a hill overlooking Val di Pesa. The area is incerdibly beautiful and the spacious property and grounds are lovely. Nearby AmenitiesThe nearest grocery store is about a three minute drive down the hill and one km. along a small secondary road. San Casciano, 5 kms away has restaurants markets, etc. Florence, 10 kms away, of course has everything! The House/ApartmentThe castle is the former home of Machiavelli, so it is hard to think of a more historical site at which one could actually stay. We stayed in the main builing (Il Castello) in a spacious two-story flat. Main bedroom upstairs with ensuite and jacuzzi. Dowstairs - fireplace, kitchen and dining area with sofa bed. Satellite tv, antique furniture and paintings and magnificent view from main bedroom. GardenSeveral shared sitting areas are outside, with a private sitting area in the interior courtyard. Shared "infinity" pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furnishings were comfortable and the apartment clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was comfortable and the bathroom good. KitchenThe kitchen was usable with enough pots, pans and dishes. Problems or BonusesThe place is far mroe beautiful than the website conveys. Peaceful, serene and perfect actually. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency and representatives were very prompt, efficient and friendly. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes!!! I would stay here again and recommend it to my best friend. Things to do in this areaIf Florence does not satisfy you, Italy is probably not the place for you to visit!
