3bed/2bath apartment near the Vatican, Rome WhenJune 8 - June 14, 2006, 6 nights LocationMalka B&B is an apartment in Rome. It is in an apartment building that is 3-4 blocks from St. Peters Square. The area was "average." Nearby AmenitiesYou can walk to several establishments for coffee. There are several sidewalk cafes nearby. There is a small market around the corner with fresh produce. There is a small grocery store about four blocks away. The House/ApartmentThe apartment seems to be old, as was most other buildings in the area, but was also in very good condition. Not sure how many other units in the building were rentals. The rooms in the apartment were quiet. There is a foyer just inside the apartment with a small sofa. Two bedrooms are on the left. Those two bedrooms each have a balcony and air conditioning. One bedroom has a double bed and a twin. The other bedroom has a double bed. There is a bedroom on the righthand side of the foyer with a queen size bed. There is a kitchen, one large bathroom with a tub, and a smaller bathroom with a shower. GardenTwo of the bedrooms have small balconies with area for sitting. No pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurnishings were modest, but in good shape. The apartment was extremely clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsBedrooms were nice size, comfortable and simply decorated. There were two bathrooms, sufficient for the three bedrooms. There was a kitchen with a small table and chairs. KitchenKitchen was usable. Sufficient dishes and pans. We cooked two meals in the kitchen. Problems or BonusesOnly (small) problem was the washing machine did not work, but not a problem for us. The biggest bonus of all was the owner, Roberta. She could not have been more helpful, cheerful and a true blessing for our first trip to Rome! She even arranged for a van to shuttle us to and from the airport (extra charge). The driver, Roberto, was pleasant, and prompt! Agency and Representatives (and price)Treated very well. Onsite person, Roberta, was fabulous! She spoke a little English. The website accurately reflected the apartment. We paid 1140 Euro for the six nights (in June 2006). We rented the entire apartment, but it can be rented by the room, like a bed and breakfast. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We definitely recommend this rental. We will rent it again if it's available next trip. We were a group of family members with friends. We all agreed the apartment was perfect for us (modest and clean and close to St. Peters and the Vatican, and the bus stop.) Things to do in this areaSt. Peters Square and the Vatican Museum, as well as shopping and sidewalk cafes, and a nice bakery just down the street that opened up early one morning for us!
