3bed/2bath villa, near Arezzo, Tuscany East WhenJune 17-24, 2006, 1 week LocationThe villa is a restored mill a few miles outside of Arezzo in a country setting nestled in a terraced olive tree grove. Beautiful views of hills and a church tower. It was very private and on an unpaved road. Nearby AmenitiesIt would be difficult to walk as there are no sidewalks and you would need a car. The House/ApartmentThe building was a restored mill with a stream running nearby. It was all stone and had wonderful views from all angles. The only sounds were church bells, a cuckcoo bird and a rooster! The bedrooms and baths were on the entrance level. Upstairs was a very large kitchen, living room and a patio with stairs leading to the garden and olive grove. GardenThe outside area was very large and private with several tables to dine at. One under cover too. No pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture was in good condition. Clean and well cared for. Plenty of seating for dining both outdoors and in the kitchen. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were very comfortable and bedrooms cool and well furnished. Bathrooms were up-to-date and the hot water plentiful. KitchenKitchen was very well equipped and the owner said that everything there was for the use of the tenant. There's a six burner gas stove, fridge with freezer and a dishwasher. No problem to cook and serve a big meal. There is also a washing machine, protable clothes dryer, and a woodburning barbecue pit in the rear of the property for outdoor cooking. Problems or BonusesThe flowers and the perfume in the air were wonderful surprises! The owner, Nadia, is a lovely lady who wants you to enjoy being in her home and is very helpful with places to go. Agency and Representatives (and price)Agency was a pleasure to work with and were very accurate in their description of the rental. The owner spoke English. The rental price was $2,031 for the week of 6/17 to 6/24. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I most certainly would go there again and would have not problem recommending it. It's a beautiful property. Things to do in this areaArezzo is an interesting old town and Siena and Cortona both are great places to visit and only short drives away. Great restaurants in both cities. The train to Florence takes about 40 minutes and leaves from Arezzo quite frequently. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
