Review 2200: Palazzo dalla Rosa Prati, Violetta & Ginerva
Seven apartments in the center of Parma, Emilia-Romagna
May 2006, 5 nights
There is no better location in the town of Parma! We were literally next door to the Baptistry and just across the piazza from the duomo. Across the street is a book store with internet acess.
Everything is an easy walk. There is a bar two doors down that is very nice for coffee etc. in the mornings.
The building has been in the dalla Rosa Prati family since the 15th century. The apartments are on the third floor, above the residence of the family who still live in a museum like home. Everything is very new, beautifully furnished and in perfect condition. There are seven apartments.
No outside sitting area per say. But the piazza is a great place to relax and people watch.
All furnishings in excellent shape. Very clean with maid service daily. Violetta apartment had four chairs around a little table for eating. No real living room. Our kids stayed in the Ginevra and the table there was in the kitchen area. They had a nice couch, too.
Bedrooms were gorgeous! Great beds. Great hot water, only bath with sprayer, not a real shower. I think fome of the other apartments may have a shower.
Kitchens are tiny but they work. There is a little microwave/convection oven and two burners. Plenty of dishes and glasses. Just enough pots and pans.
Problems or Bonuses
There is no parking except for a garage a short walk away. But you really don't need a car in Parma.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We dealt directly with Vittorio, the owner and it was a pleasure. His English is excellent and he is as charming a guy as you'd ever want to meet. He was quick to respond to emails and was very helpful when we were there. The apartments are priced by the night from E150 to E220 but he gave us a weekly rate because we totaled eight nights.
Check out their web site. It is very accurate.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Absolutely would recommend this place. BIG thumbs up. It is beautifully done and perfectly located. It does have a small elevator and AC.
Try to ask Vittorio to show you his parents flat. It really should be a museum!
Things to do in this area

We loved sitting on the ledge outside the Baptistry and watching the beautiful people of Parma go by. It is quiet at night which was great for us.
About one block walk to K2; the BEST gelato in town!
