Studio apartment near Chiesa della Salute, Venice WhenMay 2006, 2 weeks LocationThis apartment is located in Dosoduro. It is almost in the shadow of the Salute' church in a very quiet area with many art galleries, picturesque streets and canals. It is situated on a residential street with very little pedestrian traffic. Nearby AmenitiesThere is small food shop five minutes away and two supermarkets within a 20 - 25 minute walk. A traghetto stop is just one minute away and the Salute' vaperetto stop is a two minute walk. There are several nice restaurants and bars in the area. The House/ApartmentThe apartment is on the second floor of a three story building in excellent shape. Apparently well insulated, I never heard any noise from the adjoining apartments on either side and above. Two windows in the living area and one in the bathroom provided light and fresh air. The windows have screens, which are very rare in Italy. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment has been completely renovated: hardwood floors, new plaster walls, exposed beam ceilings. Two rows of halogen lighting lend a modern feel to the space. The apartment sleeps three via a double sofa bed and a single sofa bed. A few tables, lamps and TV make up the rest of the living area. An expandable table, four chairs and a sideboard painted in a Mondrian style form the dining area. A walk in closet, near the entry, provides hanging space and suitcase storage. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bathroom is newly tiled floor to ceiling and has a stand up shower enclosure. There was always plenty of hot water and pressure. KitchenA new kitchenette contains four electric burners, a small refrigerator, stainless sink, microwave oven, clothes washing machine and several cabinets. There was an abundance of pots, pans dinnerware, silverware, cups and glasses. An iron and iron board was kept in the closet. The apartment and all its outfit was very clean. Agency and Representatives (and price)The apartment looked exactly like the photos on the agency web site. The agency has an office that is open six days a week and conveniently located a short distance from the bus terminal. This made the key handover and settling up process very easy. I also found it comforting to have someplace to go to if there was a problem. The agency is mainly a father-son operation. Both were extremely couteous, eager to please and speak good English. They were very responsive to my e-mails and reservations were painless. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay at this apartment again. The location was perfect! Things to do in this areaThe Peggy Guggenheim Collection is just 30 yards away. The Accadamia Bridge is less than 10 minutes away.
