1bed/1bath apartment in Positano, Campania WhenJune 24 - July 8, 2006, 2 weeks LocationThe apartment is located in Positano at the second floor of a building. The owner lives at the first floor. The area is really nice. It can be a bit noisy because of the coastal road proximity, but we didn't find it that noisy compare to other parts of Italy. Nearby AmenitiesThe location is very good: the bus stop is about 20m away for local busses and Sita busses. There are two fruit & vegetable stores where we could also buy wine for lower price: one is in the same building and the other just close to the bus stop. The supermarket is just in front of the bus stop. We could buy most of the food there including meat and it also had everything for the house and for the babies. They also make delicious sandwiches there at the supermarket on request. The view from the terrace is stunning (I would say that it is much nicer from this part of Positano) and it is an easy walk down using steps and alleys (400m to the main beach, I measured it in steps while walking) or the main road (try this also, it is longer and be careful of the traffic, but the views are incredible as well). To come back we used local busses (Internal Positano or Montepertuso bus) and it is only a few bus stops (less than a 5 min ride). The House/ApartmentCasa Clementina is a one bedroom apartment located in the less touristy part of Positano. It is attached to the hill and remains fresh (really few degrees lower) all the day. Each room has a big glass doors with shutters and high arched ceilings. The terrace is big and offers a panoramic view on Positano the sea and port. It is located in an old building with thick walls. The apartment is well described on the agency site. I can just add that there are windows in the kitchen and in the bathroom as well (this doesn’t show up on the pictures). The apartment itself is much nicer than on the pictures and was bigger than expected. The entrance to the apartment is about 40 steps up from the road on a private path, which is not too many steps for Positano. Moreover, this part of the village is more aerated and less crowded, and the sewer doesn’t smell there, as opposed to the lower part of Positano where the streets are narrow and the air doesn’t circulate, especially when it is hot and humid. The apartment is very clean and has all you need for your stay. GardenThe apartment has a private big terrace. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was very nice and resistant. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe only thing that was uncomfortable was the couch. If an adult would like to sleep on it, there is really no way of being comfortable. If staying more than a few days, it could be an issue. The bed was big and comfortable and I brought an inflatable bed for the baby with a rechargeable electrical pump, so we were okay. The bathroom has a good size shower and is modern and clean. The washing mashine is small but was very useful. KitchenThe only thing I found missing in the kitchen was a spatula. I had hard time removing eggs from the frying pan, but at the end I got some practice and became really good with two spoons. There is a small TV and the refrigerator is big. Agency and Representatives (and price)Everybody was nice in this area and especially signora Clementina, who speaks English well. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We enjoyed our stay at Casa Clementina a lot, and if we return to Positano, we would not hesitate to stay there again. Things to do in this area
