4bed/5bath house on estate near Vicchio, Tuscany North WhenJuly 8 - July 15, 2006, 1 week LocationThe Villa Albereta is situated in the countryside, up on a top with amazing view to all sides. The Tuscan sunset is beautiful to wacth from the pool or outside gathering place. Nearby AmenitiesIt is about 10 minutes to drive eather to Borgo San Lorenzo or the smaller town, Vicchio, for shopping groceries. It also comes a marked to both this towns, witch is a great experience. There are restaurants of different kinds in both cities, and on the way to them. The House/Apartment"An ancient 17th century farm house with a modern Italian designer make over. This villa is replete with luxury and modern convenience. Villa Albereta was recently restored by a famous Florentine architect giving it a thoroughly modern, Italian designer feel." From the InTuscany website. It is nice for two families to go here together, because the rented aera is composed by two buildings that allows you to start and end the day in you own sphere and privacy. This is partly why we choose the place in the first place, and it worked out perfectly! GardenThe garden was like nothing I have ever seen, with neatly timed lemon trees, lawn and other nice plants. It is equiped with these small "buzzers" to keep small animals away. In a part of the Villa Albereta the gardner Mario lives, and he helps with every thing you need (though he don't speak much English). You will barely notice he is there. The pool is only for you as a guest. It is delicious. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasLovely funiture, in Tuscan style. As new! Plenty of space in all areas, but quite a small kitchen for cocking. Bedrooms/BathroomsFirm beds, but good. More than enough bathrooms with luxury standard. KitchenSmall but usable. It could use a bit more glasses, plates etc. but with the dishwasher it worked well. We enjoyed cooking though the space was limited. Problems or BonusesSuprised by the high standard, which is better than the pictures on the website are able to present. The incredible view and the size of the pool suprised us also. No bad surprises, except the heat was heavy for us, North-folks. Agency and Representatives (and price)We were treated very well by the agency. Full control of the process. The onsite person did not speak English that well, but the owner showed up when we arrived, and he spoke English perfectly. He gave us all the required information. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes, - we are already planing on going to the same place next year. The two different house parts was perfect for two families, and still there was a lot to discover in the area of Mugello, Chianti, Siena, Florence, with Villa Albareta as a base. Our frinds will get this recomendation, for sure! Things to do in this areaFavorite restaurant was Montelleri, in Vicchio. Good food and wonderful outdoor serving.
