Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 2227: Sleep In Italy, Sant'andrea
1bed/1bath apartment near Campo dei Fiori, Rome
June 2005, 4 nights
Wow, what a beautiful place!
The location is a stone's throw from Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navonna. It has a wonderful central location in the heart of the historic center, much better than Trastevere (we stayed both places). We packed the fridge with fruit and cold drinks (soft drinks/wine dirt cheap at the grocery store) and had them whenever we wanted.
Grocery Store 15 minute walk. Pantheon - 10 minute walk. Wonderful Pizzeria - 25 steps out the door. Campo de Fiori - 5 minutes.
Structurally sound, just remodeled. The owner had pictures of before and after.
The apartment is spectacular - three different floors so everybody can have "their space" and not feel claustrophobic. The first level includes the kitchen (small but lovely), dining area, living room area that includes the fold out sofa. There is a TV/Stereo on this level as well as a window overlooking the wonderful cobblestone paths; you do not see/hear traffic from this place. The first level also has an air conditioner unit. The second level includes a big den with another fold out sofa and the large bathroom with washing machine alcove in the bathroom. There is another TV/stereo here in addition to another wonderful window and another air conditioner unit. The third level is a loft with a big bed and another air conditioner unit (three total AC units!). Since the third level is a loft there are dramatic floor to ceiling windows with BEAUTIFUL VIEWS of the dome of the church next door.
It's on the 1st floor (not ground) in a building with no elevator. The owner of the apartment lives right next door and was available to help us whenever we needed it - including a private driver to Termini on our last day.
No garden but a private cobblestone corridor.
Spic and span clean. All furniture was in wonderful condition. All appliances worked well.
All beds comfortable. Bathroom big, spacious, clean.
Very usuable, small but very nice.
Problems or Bonuses
No problems. Owners had a bottle of wine waiting for us.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Although we originally rented the apartment from Sleep in Italy, who treated us well, we later found the apartment owner's website Casa Paradiso. Though Sleep In Italy did a perfect job for us in the apartment rental and in airport transfer to apartment.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Absolutely! I just cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. Whenever I go back to Rome I hope this place is available. It made our vacation so much more enjoyable than a hotel room. We spent around 150 Euro per night for four people here (small supplement per night for AC). We couldn't even BEGIN to come close to that price in a hotel. Wonderful!
