2bed/2bath apartment in Castello, Venice WhenJuly 2006, 7 days LocationWonderful location in Castello just past the busy tourist area, very close to Arsenale vaporetto stop. Nearby AmenitiesThe most wonderful coffee shop/bar/patisserie (Veronese) just at the end of our calle. We went in there 2-3 times per day for coffee, spritz, etc. The family that owned it were wonderful, they really took care of us. They even offered to let us borrow glasses to take the the apartment for our prosecco. They made everything in the store and had the best Tiramisu I have ever had. Several Alimentari, vegetable stands and a grocery store all very close. The perfect location!!!!! The House/ApartmentBeautifully maintained, clean, in good repair. Lovely marble bathroom and tub. Building had two apartments ground floor and first (we stayed in the first floor) Very quiet and peaceful, I loved the church bells in the morning. Nice kitchen, washing machine, large living room. Two small balconies off the front that overlooked the garden/yard. GardenFairly large ourdoor area, the patio set was for the downstairs apartment, but we used it too. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasPerfect shape and spotless. Lovely furnishings, many antique. Bedrooms/BathroomsVery comfortable, nice linens and pillows, good storage. One bathroom had a lovely tub with a hand shower, very large. Second bathroom was somewhat smaller with a shower, but still good sized. KitchenEverything was perfect, plenty of glasses, tea towel, pots and dishes. They even provided dishwashing soap. Problems or BonusesMy only comment would be to tell tenants you cannot leave one set of keys in the lock and also lock the door from the outside, you will be locked out! The owners had to break window! It all worked out; the owners were very nice. We did pay for the window; it wasn't too expensive. Had we known you couldn't do that, we never would have. Good surprise, the person meeting us brought several extra rolls of toilet paper since things would be closed the next day. Agency and Representatives (and price)Very nice, very helpful, the person meeting us was super. Very good English spoken; she was American. It was a bit pricey I guess, but worth every penny. 1600.00 Euros for the week. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely with out a doubt; in fact we plan to rent again. Things to do in this areaWalk and explore, walk and explore. As I said before, the Veronese was just the best!!!! This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
