apartments on a farm near Pienza, Tuscany South
WhenJuly 2006, 1 week LocationBeautiful countryside; specatacular views; close to Pienza. Apartments were close, but private. Very quiet. We loved the location and area. Nearby AmenitiesNeeded a car; closest town was a couple of kilometers. Close but too long to walk. A nice bike ride if you are into that. Groceries, coffee, restaurants, shopping in Pienza. The House/ApartmentThere were about 5-6 (approximately) other rental apartments in farm house. All guest were lovely and it was an interesting mix of people. Everything was in great shape, old farmhouse with wonderful spring water for everyone. GardenLovely view of hillsides and Pienza. Shared outdoor area was such a wonderful place to meet and chat with other guests as well as family members. No pool, didn't miss one. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasOur apartment was adequate for four. "The Oliviera" is perfect for two. I would get a larger one for four next time. We really ended up not caring everything was so wonderful and welcoming. Bedrooms/BathroomsFine, small shower but adequate, low ceilings. KitchenGreat kitchen - lots of spices, salt vinegar, coffee etc provided. Problems or BonusesThe family that owned the place was the best surprise. We loved our evening conversations with Luciano and being included in a family celebration for the world cup final and even being invited to Luciano and his wife's home one evening. Isabella was the best hostess and we can't say enough great things about our stay there. We can't wait to return!!!!! Agency and Representatives (and price)Could not have been treated better. We loved every minute of it. It was one of the best places I have ever stayed. Seven hundred euro's for the week. The memories will be cherished forever!! Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely without a doubt!!!!!!! Things to do in this areaLa Porta Restaurant; Mont Oliveto Abbey; Picking vegetables from the organic garden, meeting the people, drinking wine and grappa with Luciano while overlooking the spectacular countryside; trying to converse in broken Italian.
