2bed/1bath apartment near Lucca, Tuscany North WhenJuly 2006, 1 week LocationA charming and beautiful rental in the hills above Lucca. Farmhouse converted to two aparments (ground floor & 1st floor) with nice and particular character. Beautiful area. Nearby AmenitiesGrocery store and restaurants only a short drive from the property. The House/ApartmentThe apartment that we stayed in, Il Timo, is the smallest one, and is situated on the ground floor. Large combined kitchen/living area, with beautiful vaulted ceiling. Rental is part of a beautiful country estate, with olive groves and grape vines. Beautiful views towards Lucca. GardenIl Timo has a very nice and private outside area, with furniture for eating and sun bathing. There is a large shared pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasVery nicely furnished, charming and comfortable. Clean. Beautiful towels and toiletry provided. Bedrooms/BathroomsVery comfortable beds, large, airy bedrooms. Antique furniture in bedrooms. Nice bathroom. KitchenGood kitchen for cooking meals. Open coal grate in the kitchen (in addition to conventional gas oven), great for grilling! Old and peculiar stone sink, worked well. Well equipped both for cooking, eating and drinking. Problems or BonusesThe location of the rental is beautiful, we did not want to leave! Be aware that there is a large rental apartment on the first floor, however, both rentals have private outside areas. Agency and Representatives (and price)The rental is managed by the owners of the estate, a very friendly, helpful and welcoming couple. Good information about the area is provided. Also, you can buy the estate's wine and olive oil to take back home, wonderful souvenirs. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes - I hope to be able to stay in Il Timo again, myself. Things to do in this areaThe rental is a convenient distance from the sea, we had great day trips to the beach (be prepared to have to rent sunbed etc.) Also, great location for day trip to Pisa. Lucca is very close and the Carrara marble quarries are not far, either. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
