2bed/1bath apartment near La Fenice, Venice

When

April 2006, 6 days

Location

Very central location fronting a small canal, between San Marco and Accademia. Nice area. Corner living room, allowing lots of light. Gondolas passing on the canal, sometimes with music. We had a private water taxi on arrival and departure, just a few minutes' walk from the landing to the apartment. We were two adults and two teenagers, and we had a wonderful time. The appartment was ideal.

Nearby Amenities

For a grocery store with a good selection, you must walk 20 minutes to the "Billa" on Zattere (across the Accademia bridge) - it is a very nice walk - bring a backpack! Smaller stores nearby. Lots of nice restaurants nearby.

The House/Apartment

Building in good shape and apartment clean. One appartment on each floor, very quiet building. The apartment is on the second floor, there is no lift. Small bridge and canal just below the windows, sometimes noise from tourists but this is Venice! Practical layout of apartment, spacious rooms.

Garden

Private balcony overlooking next building's courtyard, with afternoon sun. Seating for four plus a table.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Clean apartment, nice furniture.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Spacious bedrooms, lots of wardrobe space, comfortable beds.

Kitchen

Separate kitchen, clean, usable and well equipped. We only had breakfast and lunch in the apartment, but the kitchen would be fine for cooking a full meal. Sufficiently equipped.

Problems or Bonuses

No surprises.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Easy and problem free booking. Accurate descprition of rental. Agency responsive to all our questions. Their representative met us at the boat landing, walked us to the apartment, and showed us the things we needed to know. Information about nearest grocery store was confusing, we had to sort it out ourselves. WC not working on arrival, but this was fixed very efficiently and as promised. Agency arranged for booking of water taxi on arrival and depature, very convenient (and quite expensive, but worth it!)

Yes.

Things to do in this area

You have Venice at your feet, bring good shoes and enjoy! Trip to Burano is much recommended - a wonderful "break" from the bustle of Venice.
