2bed/2bath apartment in Siena, Tuscany Siena WhenJune '06, 2 weeks LocationThere cannot be a better location in Siena. The building is about one city block from the Piazza del Campo. Fantastic area! Nearby AmenitiesYou can walk everywhere within the walls within 20-30 min from this location. This includes many restaurants, cafes, shops, big and small grocery stores. No need, at all, for a car. If you are going to Saena Iulia, language school, the walk is about four minutes. The House/ApartmentThe building is quite historic, having belonged to the Piccolomini family for centuries. Now the downstairs is for offices of the University. This apartment is on the top floor near two others. You can best see the layout on: Florence Rentals Floorplans (This is the owners site, but I really recommend that you rent through Vacanza Bella) The airconditioning works great and there are separate controls for each room. And there is an elevator. GardenNo outside area; this is a city place. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture is in good, not brand new, condition. There are two comfortable sofas and a nice chair, great for four people watching the World Cup. Dining table seats six comfortably. Very clean! Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds were very comfortable and the linens were nice. There were plenty of towels, sheets and blankets. The bathrooms are not fancy but very functional and not too small. KitchenKitchen is very up to date. Includes dish washer and clothes washer. Lots of glasses, dishes, pots and pans, all of very good quality. I found the kitchen very easy to cook in, although I did very low key preparations. It's nice that the kitchen opens out to the dining and living room. Perfect for casual meals. Problems or BonusesNo surprises because we stayed in this building the summer before and had already seen the apartment. Agency and Representatives (and price)I really like Martha and Daniel at Vacanza Bella. They are a very small Agency. You do get personal service from them and the price is the same. There is more hard information on the owner's site than the Vacanza Bella site for this specific apartment. Barbara, the on site person, is easy to deal with, relaible and responsive to your needs. If you get her talking about her contrada, Ostriche, she is very entertaining! Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay there again, yes indeed. The newer two bedroom apartment. though, the Drago, is MUCH nicer than the Giraffa; it's bigger with better views and nicer furnishings. They had not yet rented it out but showed it to us while we were there. I don't know how the prices compare. Things to do in this areaThere is so mcuh info on SlowTrav about Siena, I don't need to write anything here. Just go, you will love it!
