1bed/1bath apartment near Piazza della Rotunda, Rome WhenAugust 2006, 10 days LocationThis apartment was right in the historic center minutes from the Pantheon, actually just two minutes from there and 20 minutes from all the other sites. A post office just around the corner. Nearby AmenitiesThe nearest restaurants were just below us and always busy with music coming up from below. Supermercatos surrounding us, once we found them! Della Palma for great caffe freddo and gelato and great shops nearby as well. The House/ApartmentThis apartment was on the top floor, the fourth floor and no lift so we got quite a work out. Simple, clean furnishings. Balcony upfront overlooking the piazza and one in back. A small kitchen and nice sized bathroom. One bedroom simply furnished. GardenPrivate balcony upfront facing the piazza with an awning over to block the morning sun. I was disappointed that the owner let the plants die despite the fact he had a watering system in place. Comfortable chairs and two tables that enabled us to eat outside. A big plus for us. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasSimple furnishing but it seemed that the owner had done some recent renovations so the pictures on the website were not quite what the apartment was. I was initially disappointed but got over it as it was clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsOne bedroom with a double and a pullout sofa in the mainroom. Both comfortable and one bathroom, which was clean although I so hate cabin stalls for showering. KitchenThe kitchen was very usuable, big refrigerator and a dishwasher, which we didn't use. I cooked for three twice for dinner with everything I needed. And I did enjoy cooking in the kitchen; it was small but worked fine. Plenty of utensils and pots and pans all in fine shape. Problems or BonusesAs I said I was disappoined that the decor was not as it was pictured on the website but the balcony more than made up for that. We had air-conditioning in two rooms, which was not exactly over powering but cooled well enough for us. The four flights of stairs three or four times a day was hard sometimes but we managed. Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked a roundtrip from the airport and both drivers were ontime with zero problems. Our representaive showed up within 20 mintes of getting to the apartment although I was a bit freaked out that the driver just left us there alone to wait for him with our luggage. We paid 130 euro a night so 1300 for the ten days, 90 euro for the roundtrip to the airpost and five euro a night for the ac, all in cash. Everyone spoke English and we never had a problem with this agency before in booking or getting information. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?YES, we would stay here again, the location alone was wonderful. To be so close to everything made this so easy and I would definitely recommend this agency and this apartment again. Things to do in this areaDella Palma for caffe freddo and gelato. Yummy, Rustica Salameria for the best sandwiches right by the Pantheon; we got sandwiches there every afternoon! Maccheroni was just below us but always busy and we were always on the go or resting on our balcony. Great thin pizza place on Via de Coppelle but I dont remember the name.
