Review 2328: Le Manzinaie, Girasole

Review by Alida from Australia

apartments on an estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South

26/08/06-02/09/06, 1 week

Le Manzinaie is located in the countryside surrounded by sunflowers and vines. Approximately 12 km to Montepulciano and a short distance to the small village of Montepulciano Stazione. The location was vey private with no other buildings nearby. Very tranquil and restful yet close enough to many villages and towns for daytripping.

Nearby Amenities

Nearest grocery store and restaurant is approximately 1 km away. A car is needed to visit the larger town of Montepulciano(15 min drive) Siena is approximately a one-hour drive.

The House/Apartment

The building was a converted farmhouse that now houses three apartments and one stand alone house. Our apartment (Girasole) was fascinating for its vaulted ceilings and stenciled artwork. It was impeccably clean and in very good condition. Our two bedroom/two bathroom apartment was spacious with every amenity one could require.

Le Manzinaie has large and beautiful gardens, a vegetable patch and a small orchard! A large pool. Many outdoor sitting/eating areas. The grounds like the buildings are very well kept.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in good condition and the apartment was spotlessly clean. We were perfectly comfortable with every amenity provided.

The master bedroom and ensuite in the Girasole apartment were particulary spacious and comfortable. The second bedroom and bathroom although smaller were perfectly adequate for the children. Both rooms beautifully decorated.

Kitchen was very usable with everything one would need. We thoroughly enjoyed getting up in the morning and throwing open the kitchen windows to let in the light and fresh air.

Problems or Bonuses

The owners of Le Manzinaie are incredibly friendly and helpful; bringing us fresh tomatoes, apples and plums from the garden. We received suprise treats by the pool from Fiore, wine and crostini. One evening the owners invited all the guests to a family dinner and a memorable night of good food, wine and laughter was had by all.

We were impressed by the condition the property was kept in. Pristine with great attention to cleanliness.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Booked via the intermet and found that the published information accurately reflected what we found and our experience there.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Would whole heartedly recommend this accomodation, not only for the quality and ambience but for the owners who give your stay there an extra special dimension.

My only qualification would be that a car would be needed to travel beyond the small village nearby.

Things to do in this area

Lots of interesting and historical towns to visit; Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena even Florence . If you like wine tasting you are near the heart of the great Italian wine region for Brunello! Enjoy the scenery, the food the experience.
