Review 2332: Studio Fori, Casa Francescani

Review by Goldie from HI

2bed/1bath apartment on farm near Montegiove, Umbria

28 August 2006, 2 days

After a busy workshop in Tuscany, it was a joy for my husband and I to spend a few days relaxing at Casa Francescani. The peace and beauty of the villa and the countryside was soothing. It was so quiet that we almost regretted not staying longer instead of going on to the bustle of Roma. We had a long and lovely hike through the surrounding woods, accompanied by one of the family dogs, and enjoyed the view and the fresh smells of the gardens and the woods. We had delicious food and the fine company of the owner, Chiara.

Nearby Amenities

If we had wanted to, we were close enough to visit many sights nearby, but we wanted only rest and quiet, and that was plentiful! The nearest town is 20 minute drive away.

The House/Apartment

The villa was beautiful (we love old and rustic) and very comfortable. The view from our room was gorgeous.

You can link directly to the house here: Casa Francescani

We ate our meals on a covered patio near the gardens. Even with a slight chill in the air in the mornings and evenings, it was well worth putting on a shawl or sweater to eat al fresco, surrounded by gardens and birdsong.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The villa was simply and beautifully furnished. The family uses the main house also, so the furnishings and kitchens felt homey and comfortable.

Our room was pretty and clean and the bathroom was across the hall, and very clean also. Fresh linens were in the bath and there was a cozy extra blanket in our room for the unexpectedly chilly night.

We shared cooking and meals with the owner (by our choice) and it was very easy to cook there. Everything we needed was provided. The apartment is also set up with its own kitchen, and you can have the privacy of cooking there also.

Problems or Bonuses

We were amazed at the quiet and comfort. Oftentimes country living can be a little harder, but we were very comfortable.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner was very accomodating and speaks good English. She is very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Everything was well appointed and clean and very reasonable. We were able to contact them through the Accomodation in Rome website, search code u007.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We hope to return to Casa Francescani for a longer stay. There is plenty of room, and when we have more time there we can visit more of the towns and countryside.

Things to do in this area

We were well aware of the many things to see (art, sacred sites, archeological interests), and we hope to see them next time we stay in Umbria. We only wanted rest, and that was what we got.
