1bed/1bath apartment, Rome WhenJune 2006, Did not stay; they cancelled our reservation ReviewWe were looking forward to our June trip to Italy. We booked early (January, 2006) to avoid being disappointed. We found a suitable looking apartment through Rental in Rome and as requested sent a 149 euro deposit through Paypal. We received confirmation that all was well and that the agency would send the coordinates of the apartment in the near future. When, a few weeks later, I still had not received any information, I sent an email to the agency. I emailed a number of times until finally, in May, about two weeks before our departure I received an email from Rental in Rome saying that they could not honour our booking because the apartment had been sold. They offered another apartment which was quite a bit beyond our budget and not a convenient location for us. They also offered a refund. We opted for the latter. Upon our return towards the end of June, I reminded them on a couple of occasions that we awaited our refund. In July, they finally sent a form requesting my bank information. This was the last that I heard from them. Needless to say, no refund has been received. We are experienced travellers and have booked apartments in the past and have encountered no difficulties that were not easily rectified. Most sites and/or owners have met or surpassed our expectations. Rental in Rome was not only a huge source of frustration and disappointment, it caused us unnecessary stress shortly before our departure and required extra expense and much scrambling to modify our plans. I would not recommend this agency or their website to anyone. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
