Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 2376: Rentvillas, Fiesole
2bed/3bath apartment in Santa Croce, Florence
8 Sept 2006, Week
This Apartment over looks Santa Croce in the heart of Florence. A fourth floor (5th to US) with a balcony view of the square, Duomo and Palace towers. Down stairs was Boccadoma on the best restaurants around. Love the area, not as congested as the main square just perfect. The owners gave all the renters a free Italian cooking class that was out of this world, too.
Everything was walking distance. Markets, museums, Ponto Vecchio, Gelato "Vivoli", churches, shopping.
Historic building that has been remodeled refurnished and is in wonderful shape. Peaceful with a wonderful breeze that flows through the apartment. The views of Fort Bellvidere and the hill side are right out of a post card. The separate master bed rooms, great room and a fully modern kitchen. There are about six to eight apartments in the very wonderful private building.
Here's a direct link to the Fiesole.
The balacony was to die for. We ate most of our lunches on the balcony, with a glass of wine and people watched. Tomatoes, cheese, fresh bread from the marketplace ... it's what vacation should be.
Everything was in top form, lots of room, comfort and chairs. Apartment was immaculate.
Beds were great, bedrooms very well decorated all with private windows and views. Both bedrooms were masters with full bathrooms and a additional one in the main area. Lots of hot water in wonderful showers all having been modernized.
Kitchen had everything we needed, washer/dryer and dishwasher. We have some good pictures of us cooking diner and then eating it on the balcony.
Problems or Bonuses
The Contessa (owner) gave us a free cooking class with two Italian chefs. Lots of great food wine and laughs had by all. It was very nice meeting the other folks in the apartments. The Contessa was a wondeful woman of charater and charm.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
This is the second rental from rentvillas and both have been great! This time was exceptional. The arrival information was extremmely good, everything was taken care of. The onsite person was very helpful and spoke perfect English. Our party was two couples so for a week stay it was about 250/nite/couple.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would highly recommend this apartment, We are planning to go back and maybe stay in the owner's apartment in Siena next time. Rentvillas has been a very good choice in rental properties from my experience.
Things to do in this area
There is no bad restaurant in Florence, but some are better than others. Shopping is nuts. Food is out of the world.
