apartments on an estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenSeptember 16th, 2006, one week LocationOur vacation rental was beautifully located about 1.5 hours from Rome and 1 hour from Florence in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The town of Montepulciano was less than 10 minutes away and Cortona about 20 minutes. The area was private and beautifully landscaped. The pool in the evening after a day of sightseeing was very enjoyable. We enjoyed it so much we plan to return sometime. Nearby AmenitiesThere were two grocery stores and several restuarants within 3-4 kilometers. The House/ApartmentThe building is located in an 1800's farmhouse, that has been beautifully restored by the owners. There were six rentals on the property and everyone felt like family. GardenThere were both private and public areas for sitting. One evening I enjoyed private time under an arbor writing in my journal, the next joined others around the pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything in the facility was immaculate. Not only was everything clean, but it was also tastefully decorated by the owners. There were plenty of seating. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were large and comfortable as well as the bathrooms. KitchenThe kitchen had enough pots and pans for us to cook a full five-course meal. Everything we needed was available. Problems or BonusesUpon arrival we were met with a bottle of wine. And in the morning Fiore made the most delicious cappucino or chocolate. In the evening we were able to use some tomatoes from the garden as well as spices. Also the refrigerator was stocked with enough to get us started the next day. The most important thing was that Marzia and Alice helped to track down our lost luggage. The airline lost our luggage, and we were never able to get any answers from the airline or its website. With Marzia and Alice's determination we finally did get our luggage. Without their help I do not think that we would have gotten it back during our trip. Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked the apartment online, but we had no difficulty communicating as English was spoken very well. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I already have, and yes we are planning or staying again. Things to do in this areaWhen we arrived we were given an itinery of different places to visit. Each morning we were also given specific instructions on how to get to our desired location. There was so much to do and see in the area that we will definitely be coming back. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
