Review 2447: Agriturismo Acquacalda, Apartment

Review by Fabio from Italy

Apartments and rooms on farm near Montone, Umbria

October 2006, 2 days

Extremely nice location in the valley below Montone (one of the nicest small villages of Italy). The house is placed in the midst of the "Azienda Agricola" owned by the farmhouse's owners, so you have plenty of nice fields around. They also own a quite large cows breeding, (the renown Chianina breed, famous for his meat).

Nearby Amenities

You have to take your car to get to amenities but in five minutes you're in Montone, where you can find all you need. Larger stores in Umbertide, the nearest town, 15 minutes away.

The House/Apartment

The building is in excellent shape, very peaceful. It has 13 apartments, so you can choose among large ones and smaller ones (with or without kitchen, dining room etc.)

A pool is present and a nice garden too. There's a shared sitting area and you can take a nice walk all around, taking a look at the cows, or meeting the beautiful peacocks! If you have children, don't forget to ask for "la Nina", the nice pig who loves being fed by little kids!

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Everything in good shape.

Bathrooms way over the average of the Italian "agriturismi!" Large and comfortable beds and bedrooms.

We didn't use the kitchen but it seemed in excellent shape and rather new.

Problems or Bonuses

Even if all I wrote so far is positive, I have to say that we found even more nice surprises. I could collect them all talking about the extremely warm and kind welcome and assistance we had. Owners are enthusiastic about their job, both in the farm and farmhouse.

I think this is the real bonus, together with Acquacalda being a real Agriturismo (vacation rental farmhouse inside a real farm).

And don't forget the breakfast! It is included in the fee and it's full of cakes made by the owners! Absolutely a must!

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Very reasonable fees.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes, I will stay there again and I recommend it to everyone who loves Umbria and the central Italian country. If you still don't know it, I would recommend this place to discover it and, no doubt, you won't forget.

Things to do in this area

In the very neighbourhood(Montone) don't miss the traditional feasts of the Sacra Spina (Spring, Summer) and Festa del Bosco (last week-end of October). Montone is very fascinating itself, with no need of particular events.
