2bed/2bath duplex house in Praiano, Campania WhenMay 4-11, 2002, 1 week LocationThe apartment was located in the little coastal village of Praiano located between Positano and Amalfi. It was on the hillside facing the ocean with incredible views from every room (even from the bath-tub). Quite high up the hill and to walk to the beach was down many stairs so you need to be quite fit to get back up if walking. Restaurants were within 15 min walk, but again the walk back uphill is quite tough, especially on older not so fit people. It was a beautiful spot amongst private residences and extremely private with no-one looking into you. A little grocery store within a hundred or so metres that stocked everything and some wonderful local produce. A car would be beneficial and you can hire a car space from owner. If you have a car, its worth hiring the space as parking is very tight. The car space is a little walk of about 200m from the apartment. The House/ApartmentTechnically this was the top of a duplex but I don't think anyone lived below. It felt like a stand alone house and was totally private and wonderfully quiet. Condition was superb and obviously well loved by the owner. Beautifully decorated in a modern traditional and stylish way. All necessities were there. Fantastic outdoor seating and BBQ on the HUGE verandah which again was private with stunning views. Great kitchen, shower in ensuite not very practical but not important. Bath in main bathroom is against a window overlooking the ocean - dreamy! Wonderful open fireplace. Every room had lovely fresh flowers in it and there was fresh lemons and oranges from the local area. GardenTerrace/verandah as described above. No pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasLovely furniture, all very comfortable, tasteful and plenty of it. Meticulously clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsVery comfortable beds with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. All lovely. Bathrooms slightly older style but in very good condition (see above). KitchenFull kitchen (no dishwasher) will all necessary equipment to cook whatever you like. Nice and large and open. Some better kitchen knives would have been handy. Problems or BonusesNo problems, the nicest touch was all the fresh flowers in EVERY room (including bathroom) and fresh fruit. Agency and Representatives (and price)The booking agent was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. Answered all my strange questions and offered to organise foodstuffs etc. for when we arrive if we wanted. The on-site lady spoke very good English and was very helpful and friendly. The pictures on the website are great so I had high expectations - and it was even better than the pictures, larger than expected and more beautiful. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Definitely, and I have been recommending it. If we go back to the same area we would stay there and we may go back to that area just so that we can stay there! The terrace is incredible for sitting and watching the ocean. It truly is a lovely property - check out the site as the pictures are very good. Things to do in this areaIts a good spot to village hop and of course Pompeii and Paestrum are close by. Don't remember the restaurant names but every one we tried was very good. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
