2bed/2bath apartment near Colosseum, Rome WhenOct 15 - 20, 5 nights LocationApartment is on San Giovanni Laterno close the the Colosseum. A very nice location. Nearby AmenitiesNumerous restaurants and coffee bars within easy walking distance. A large grocery store is about three easily walked blocks away. The House/ApartmentThe apartment is on the third floor of the building. In Italy, the first floor is the ground floor, the second floor is the first floor and the third floor is the second floor. It is located in an apartment building. The apartment is in excellent shape with all amenities. The windows are all double paned so there is minimal street noise. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasAll furnishing in excellent shape. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds comfortable. Extra blankets and pillows easily accessed. The bathrooms were small but modern and clean. KitchenKitchen well stocked with coffee makers, pots, pans, dishes, silverware and a microwave. The cook-top has two burners. This is ideal for breakfast and a full meal could be cooked here. In addition, the landlord had thoughtfully supplied cookies, Melba toast, coffee, creamers, jellies, butter and other breakfast starter items. All we needed to purchase was milk, bread, rolls and cereal. Problems or BonusesThe nice surprise is how welcoming and helpful Natalaia and Walter were. They provide a cell phone, good for local calls and for contacting them with any problem. Walter spent a long time going over the area, the apartment, places to eat and shop. They have thoughtfully prepared a map showing nearby restaurants. Natalia also arranged our taxi to the airport which was cheaper (€41)than we could have done ourselves. The only small problem we had was the noise coming from other apartments in the building. This was solved with earplugs! Agency and Representatives (and price)The apartment was as portrayed on the website. These are the nicest landlords in Rome. We paid €200 per night which was very reasonable when split between two couples. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely stay there again. Things to do in this areaFavorite restaurant nearby was Luzzi. We had a very reasonable and excellent meal there. We visited the Bascilica of San Clemente which is one of the oldest in Rome. It is about one block from the apartment. We also visited San Giovanni Laterno which is the Pope's Cathderal and site of the former Papal Palace before the papacy went into exile in Avingnon. Be sure to go into the building across the street from the Bascilica to see the Papal Chapel and the Scala Santa which is a holy staircase reputed to be walked on by Christ. You can only climb the staircase on your knees! There are other staircases available to the top. Also an easy walk from the basilica is the church of Santa Croce in Gerusulem which has a piece of the true cross brought back by St. Helena, Constatine's mother.
