Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 2474: Bed & Breakfast Association of Rome, Cod. 133 Campo dei Fiori
Studio apartment near Campo dei Fiori, Rome
October, 3 nights
The apartment was located near Campo dei Fiori in a pretty run down area. Its close to a lot of other apartment buildings. We didn't like the area and always had trouble finding our way back since its in the middle of a lot of small streets.
There were coffee shops and restaurants close by. There is a market in the morning everyday in Campo dei Fiori (except Sunday).
The building was old and dirty, lots of graffiti. There was garbage on the staircase and mould growing on the ceiling. Inside the apartment itself was fairly clean though. It is on the top floor so it is quiet. It was very small with a double bed and small table and chairs in the main area. A little kitchen off of that and a tiny bathroom as well to the left when you come in the door.
There was a huge terrace, although not exactly with a view as described on the Sleep in Italy website, where the apartment is also listed. The terrace with "a view of Roman roofs, ancient buildings and beautiful churches Domes" was why we had decided to stay at this apartment instead of a nicer, larger one we had also been considering. However, the view was mainly into the rear of other run down apartment buildings. There was a view of one dome from a church down the street. It was definately not worth the walk up five flights of stairs.
Furniture was okay and we found it fairly clean and comfortable. There is a huge TV with cable. Air conditioning is available.
There is no seperate bedroom, the bed is in the main living area. The bathroom was very tiny and had a horrid sewage smell that just got worse and worse during our time there. Also the shower curtain around the shower stall was mildewy at the bottom.
The kitchen was very small but there were pots and pans and dishes available. We didn't use the kitchen much though so I can't comment of the quality or if it was good for cooking full meals.
Problems or Bonuses
Bad surprise was the disappointing terrace. We had expected a much better view. It was in a fairly central location though which was good.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
No problems with the agency. The onsite person was very nice but spoke very, very little English. We paid €100 a night in October.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
No, I would not stay here again and wouldn't recommend it.
Things to do in this area
Lots of gelaterias nearby which we enjoyed stopping at. Campo dei Fiori is nice at night.
