1bed/1bath apartment in Cividale, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia WhenSept. 06 ReviewWe never stayed at the apartment as it was quite different than portrayed on its web site. Fortunately, no deposit or advance payment had been required. I had been having an email correspondence with Christina, the owner, who speaks very little English. I used Babblefish to include translations of my requests in the emails, and then used the same process to translate her responses. When we arrived in Cividale we found that we could not drive anywhere near the apartment. It is located above the famous Al Monastaro restaurant on a very active and noisy pedestrian street. We found a place to park and walked there. The restaurant was closed but I found Christina there and asked to see the apartment. It was up two long flights of stairs and down a long hallway. When she opened the door, we could smell the dampness. The apartment, which looks bright and cheerful on the web site, is actually quite dark and dank. You enter into an open kitchen area which fronts the bedroom. One look was enough, and we told Christina that this apartment would not work for us. She was not happy, but accepted this without a problem. I have a feeling we were not the only ones to have had this experience.
