2bed/2bath apartment near Campo dei Fiori, Rome
WhenNovember, 2006, 3 Nights LocationThis apartment is located a couple of blocks from Campo dei Fiori in a nice residential neighborhood. It is in a building with a couple of other apartments. We found the area very convenient, located between the Vatican and the "historic" sites of Rome. Nearby AmenitiesThis apartment is very convenient to amenities. A supermarket, restaurants, shops, bus stops are all located within a few minutes walk from the apartment. The House/ApartmentThe building dates from the 14th century and has an interesting history, which the owner will share with you. Everything was in very good condition. The street is a bit busy in the afternoon but there are double windows and we never found the noise level to be at all disturbing in the evening or early morning. The apartment is on the second floor with steps going up. Have the owner show you how to turn on the light at the bottom of the stairs. You don't want to negotiate the stairs in the dark. GardenThere is a very small balcony off the kitchen. There is no pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was spotlessly clean. The furnishings were all in excellent condition and very comfortable. There was plenty of seating in both the living room and the kitchen. Bedrooms/BathroomsBoth bedrooms have at least queen size beds. Both bedrooms were very nice and quite comfortable. There are two baths with shower. Plenty of blankets and large towels were available. KitchenThe kitchen was very well equipped. Plenty of dishes, pots, pans appliances. There were even enough supplies to get you started for breakfast. As it turned out we only used the kitchen for pastries and juice, but certainly could have cooked full meals there. Problems or BonusesI can't say that there were really any surprises since this apartment had been so well reviewed on Slow Travel by others before us. There were certainly no disappointments. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency, Natalia and Walter, are the owners of this and three other apartments. I simply cannot say enough positive things about them. Before the trip the communications with Natalia were always prompt, friendly and professional. Walter met us at our apartment and did a wonderful job of orienting us to the apartment, neighborhood and Rome. He gave restaurant and shopping suggestions. They even provided a cell phone so that they can stay in touch during our stay. Unfortunately, we didn't tend to carry the cell phone and we missed two calls from Walter who was just calling to ensure that everything was OK. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would, and have, recommended this apartment and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this, or another of this owner's apartments. Things to do in this areaFrom this location you can walk to either the Vatican or the area of the Forum. There are many shops and restaurants in the area.
