3bed/2bath house near Tavernelle, Tuscany Chianti

When

11/17/06 -11/23/06, 6

Location

This villa is located in Tuscany and has beautiful country views. It is very close to a small town and not at all far from a couple larger towns. You do need a car to get to it, but it is very easy to find.

Also, the villa is only about 1/2 hour outside of Florence and not much further from Siena. We had easy day trips to many great towns including Pisa and Lucca.

Nearby Amenities

There was a great little grocery store in the small town that is only about a five-minute drive from the villa. Also then there is a larger town, Tavernelle that is only about a 15 minute drive from the villa and there you will find a nice large grocery store and a couple of nice restaurants and pizzerias.

It is right next to another rental Casa San Rossa, so it is perfect if you have a larger party.

The House/Apartment

It is a very old home that has been completely renovated. There are two bedrooms with king size beds, a third bedroom with two twin beds and a very comfortable pullout sleeper couch in the living room. It has two full bathrooms (very spacious bathrooms) and a large comfortable kitchen. It was a wonderful place to call home for a week.

Garden

It is right in wine country and the vineyards are right out the back and front door. In addition there are olive orchards right there as well. In fact the owner and his family were harvesting olives when we were there. There is also a lovely outdoor kitchen patio. There is no pool.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The villa had been renovated and everything was new or wonderfully preserved, period antiques (such as the large wardrobes in each room). It had been meticulously cleaned. The living room had very comfortable armchairs and a couch, but we found ourselves drawn to the large kitchen table which we all sat around and had drinks and snacks while the adults planned the next day's adventure and the children played games.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The beds were fantastic and the bedrooms large. We were pleasantly surprised at how well we slept. Again the spacious bathrooms were plenty for eight people. One of the bathrooms had a jacuzzi tub which was quite a treat after a long day.

Kitchen

The kitchen was a highlight of the house. We spent much of the time we were there in the kitchen. Since it was November we did not spend much time in the outdoor covered patio, but we did notice that there was a barbecue down there as well.

Problems or Bonuses

The owner Francesco and his family were so nice. Although most of them did not speak English (the owner Francesco does speak English), we still had a great time meeting them. They are wonderful warm people and the villa reflected this warmth.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The agency was awesome. In addition to our confirmation, we received a wonderful packet of information about the area that was extremely helpful. The agency was very clear about the costs and when we would pay. The cost was very reasonable and I think a great deal for such a lovely villa.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I absolutely would stay here again and would recommend without any reservation or qualifications.

Things to do in this area

Visit the San Casciano market on Monday morning. Certaldo has a great ancient town that you need to take a tram up to, San Gimignano is a fun trip back in time, Pisa of course you need to see, Lucca is wonderful, there is a American War Cemetery outside Tavarnelle on S2 that was a very interesting site to see, so much to see, so little time.
