apartments on an estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenOctober 2006, 4 days LocationThe property is located in the country outside of Montepulciano in a town called Montepulciano Stazione. This was a separate estate which was refurbished by the owners in a tasteful way with keen attention to detail. This was a very convenient location as a base for touring southern Tuscany and Umbria. Nearby AmenitiesThe nearest grocery store restaurants were a short drive from the villa. The House/ApartmentThis is a beautiful old farmhouse which has been lovingly restored. Our apartment was two large bedrooms, separated by a kitchen/dining room and sitting area. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, one with a jacuzzi tub and shower. The kitchen was well-equipped with all the appliances/dishes that you would need. GardenThere is a large pool with lounge chairs for the guests' use, but it was too late in the season for us to use. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in great shape, comfortable, and the apartment was immaculate. It is ideal for two couples. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were modern, large and clean. KitchenThe kitchen was small but fully stocked with all of the cooking and eating supplies. Problems or BonusesThe owners made our stay at Le Manzinaie one of the most pleasant vacation experiences ever. The family (Marzia, Alice and Fiore) assembled to greet us as we arrived. We were given a warm welcome, and a very informative discussion on the workings of the villa, and of various points of interest in the area. We had planned our itinerary carefully in advance, but our hosts were able to give us some extra little tidbits to make it even better. Because we arrived on a Sunday and grocery stores were closed, our hosts provided us (free of charge) with breakfast supplies for the next day, including ham and eggs, juice, coffee and rolls. On our third night, they also hosted (free of charge) a multi-course Italian dinner for all of the quests, which was magnificent. The food, wine, grappa and liqueurs flowed freely. These owners are simply incredible people! Agency and Representatives (and price)The published information on Le Manzinaie was accurate, but the actual experience was better than advertised! Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We would highly recommend this vacation villa without reservation. When we go back to Southern Tuscany, we will absolutely stay at Le Manzinaie again. Don't miss this place and the wonderful hospitality of Marzia, Alice and Fiore. Things to do in this areaWe used this as a base for exploring Southern Tuscany, as well as a few towns in Umbria (Perugia and Assisi). There are plenty of shops and restaurants within easy driving distance of the villa. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
