Apartments on property near Sant' Appiano, Tuscany Chianti
When9/24/05 to 10/1/05, seven days LocationThe apartment is in the country. There are five apartments in the building. It is very easy to get to and there is a automatic gate for security. You are given a key to open the gate once you check-in; just phone ahead and they will meet you at the gate. We will be staying there again; it is truly a nice place to relax. Nearby AmenitiesYou will have to drive to get to a store or restaurant, but it is a easy five to seven minute drive with no traffic depending on which town you go to. There is PAM supper market about 10 minutes away with everything you could want. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook your own "Italian dinner" or burgers, if you must. Florence is 25 minutes away, Siena maybe 20 minutes, San Gimignano about 12 minutes, Poggibonsi & Barberino val d' Elsa no more than eight minutes. The House/ApartmentThere is a common washer/dryer room with ironing board & iron! The apartment was very clean and the people who manage the property could not be more helpful! We took advantage of a "starter package" for €40 of the basic items of eggs, milk and such, which made breakfast easy the first day. You are given a bottle of the local wine & very good maps of the area. There are five apartments in the building for two, or four people with one or two baths priced accordingly. There is one other building on the property where the owners live and a very nice pool which we did not use. It is very quite with the quietly sounding bells of a distant church every fifteen minutes floating through the window as to assure you "all is well." The bed was not overly hard and we slept soundly every nite. GardenEach apartment has a private patio area with a table and chairs. No matter where you are, the view is beautiful. The shared pool is at the end of a smooth stone walkway on top of a rise over looking the villa with a great view of the country side. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture is new & comfortable with enough chairs for four people. We stayed in a one bedroom, but the sofa made into a bed also; we did not try it. My wife was very pleased at how clean everything was when we arrived. Bedrooms/BathroomsUnlike how European beds go, the bed was very comfortable; the best we had the whole three week stay in Italy! The bathroom was very nice, clean, with a good shower, but my wife needed more shelf room for her make-up, curling iron, etc, etc. KitchenThe kitchen had plenty of room for two people with all the pots & pans needed to cook what ever you wanted. Problems or BonusesThe only surprise we had was how easy everything went for the booking on-line to finding the villa. Agency and Representatives (and price)Everyone from the on-line personal to the on-site personal were super. The website has a great info packet you can down load full of interesting things to see & do. The property is everything the website states & more. We stayed in the med-low time at $595.00 ($1.16 per euro)in 2005, now $677.00 ($1.35 per euro)in 2007. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We hope to be back here this year with friends in one of the bigger apartments as it is so well situated to see a large part of central Tuscany. Things to do in this areaThere is to much to see & do in a 30 minute drive unless you stay a month or more! Super strata 11 is four minutes away with A1 another 15 or so; this is a really great location to see what you want to see and come back & really relax! We can't wait to get back.
