Review 2592: Owner, Villetta Mimma Vittoria

Review by Lilian from CA

2bed/2bath house in Gioa Tauro, Calabria

October 2005, 1 week

It was in the small Southern Italy city, Gioia Tauro. The rental was at the end of a small street near a park. It was close to other buildings, but it wasnít too bothersome. The area was nice, and the house was very quiet.

Nearby Amenities

Yes, there was a small store nearby, and a bigger grocery 5-7 minutes away. The main street was just a few blocks away. Great location; we could also walk to the train station, as well as easily bike through the town.

The House/Apartment

Great building, beautiful home, wonderfully renovated with the most thoughtful upgrades and design touches. So much work and intelligence for convenience and beauty went into the renovation of this home.

There wasnít much of a sitting area, or we didnít use it at all. We didnít use the outside shower very much, if at all, because the weather was cold and sometimes rainy.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in excellent shape and very comfortable. There were enough chairs everywhere. My only complaint would be the mattress which didnít match the comfort and quality of the rest of the villa and furnishings; I had some trouble sleeping during our stay.

The villa was very clean and very comfortable.

As mentioned above, the master bedroom bed wasnít as comfortable as I had expected it to be, given the caliber of everything else in the villa. I actually found the second bedroom mattress to be more comfortable, and slept there a few times, to nap.

The bedrooms were wonderful, and the closet space in the master bedroom was so appreciated.

Like I said before, I didnít sleep as well I had hoped, but overall, we rested and relaxed during the entire week, so I wasnít tired from lack of sleep.

The bathroom was one of the best parts of the villa. Beautiful, perfect, lovely. Yes, there were enough in the villa. We had enough water for the most part, as there were only two of us, but I felt like I had to be constantly conscious of how long I was in there so as not to take all of the hot water from my husband.

I loved everything in the bathroom, it was just so beautiful, but I would have to say the use of materials, and the sink/mirror area was my favorite.

I had never used the bidet and didnít venture to use it this time.

The kitchen was amazing; everything was provided, and it was absolutely gorgeous!

Problems or Bonuses

The honeymoon and the villa were a surprise for me, so everything was wonderful. I think we had expected to be able to do more in the town, but we also could have allowed ourselves more adventure. The villa was so beautiful, comfortable, and had everything ó it really gave us a chance to decompress and be with each other on our honeymoon.

I also loved how every detail was thought out and how so many things were supplied for us. I appreciated the love and care that was brought to the villa and to the experience and stay of the guests.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The voucher was very thorough and useful. As far as my husband has told me, the owner was very nice and pleasant to work with. The on site person was wonderful! Paola, I believe her name was, was very sweet and spoke some English.

Yes, I believe the villa was accurately described. I think the quality of the beach should be more detailed; we were probably most disappointed by the beach.

From what my husband relayed, it seemed the booking process, the correspondence, and all transactions were very professional and timely.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would absolutely stay here again! Yes! I would love for any of my friends and family to come. I would just give them a lot of suggestions, like definitely rent a car, go to the all the nearby towns, go down to Reggio, etc.

Things to do in this area

We tried to go by some of the recommendations listed in the Guest Book, so there arenít any others I would recommend different from theirs. But there was a great Gelateria/pastry shop on the main street; they were nice and everything was yummy.
