1bed/1bath apartment in Trastevere, Rome WhenMarch 2007, 6 nights LocationThe apartment is in the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome, across the Tiber River. Trastevere is a very trendy neighborhood, and is full of wonderful restaurants. The apartment is one floor above a restaurant. We enjoyed the location very much. Although restaurants were nearby, the apartment was very quiet and comfortable. Nearby AmenitiesTrastevere is full of wonderful restaurants within walking distance. The apartment is one floor above a restaurant. There was also a breakfast restaurant next store. There was a cute little fruit and vegetable market right across the street. The owner provided us with a shopping cart and directions to a supermarket, which was several blocks away, but very easy to get to. The House/ApartmentWe loved the apartment. It was very charming. There are four floors to the apartment building. The ground floor is a restaurant (surprisingly quiet, and did not disturb us at all). The Belli Suite, the one we stayed in, is on the first floor (second American). There is also another apartment rental on the second floor, and then a private residence on the top floor. GardenThere was a small outside area to dry our clothes. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was very comfortable for a family of four. The furniture was in great shape, and it was very comfortable. The apartment was very clean. There were five chairs in the dining room, and a couch and comfy chair in the living room. Bedrooms/BathroomsWe had one large bathroom. The master bed was very comfortable. The fold out sofa was also surprisingly comfy. The chair in the living room also unfolds into a bed, but we did not need to use that. KitchenThe kitchen was great! It had an American coffee maker as well as an Italian one! We had ample supplies and basic ingredients to cook our meals. Shelley, the owner, provided us with some basic snacks upon arrival: popcorn, crackers, four water bottles, nutella, marmalade, chocolate candy, coffee, tea, small bottle of wine. She even left a recipe and all the ingredients to make a pasta dish. There was also a book containing some of her favorite recipes for cooking authentic Italian meals. We loved the Carbonara! Problems or BonusesEverything was as described on their website. My children particularly loved the selection of board games, and small library, which are placed in the stairwell for all renters to enjoy. Agency and Representatives (and price)Shelley was wonderful to deal with. She is originally from the U.S. so no language problems at all. Everything was as described on her website. We paid using PayPal. For six night, four people, we paid roughly €900 in March 2007. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely stay here again, and have been recommending the apartment since we left. We even talked with several people on our flight home! Things to do in this areaThe best thing about Trastevere is the wonderful selection of restaurants. It is very close to the Tiber River, and we were able to walk to the historic district easily. It was also close to the bus stops, and definitely a cheap and easy way to get around Rome. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
