1bed/1bath apartment in Pisa, Tuscany West WhenJanuary 25-30th 2007, 5 days LocationThe apartment was located within walking distance of the Tower of Pisa in one of the university areas, located near to the local supermarket, on the main bus route and close to one of Pisa's minor railway stations. The airport was approximately 15 minutes drive away. However, the main drawback of being on the main bus route also meant that the apartment was situated on a busy main road. Nearby AmenitiesThe local large supermarket 'Pam' was walking distance, around the corner. There were a number of different restaurants nearby and near to Pisa Tower. As the apartment was on the bus route, it didn't take long to visit Pisa town centre and the many restaurants. The House/ApartmentThe apartment was clean and presentable. It had a good layout of one double bedroom, with a sofa-bed in the kitchen/dining area, shower room and lots of storage space. The decor of the apartment was good and the kitchen well stocked of cutlery, dishes, tea towels, etc. We didn't spend a lot of time during the day at the apartment, but found that due to the busy main road outside, we didn't get a good night's sleep when sleeping in the bedroom, so moved to the sofa bed for the last couple of nights, which was better. GardenThis was a upstairs apartment, so didn't have an outside seating area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture looked new, the apartment clean and there was enough seating for up to four adults. The sofa-bed/sofa was comfortable, but it did take a while to get used to the bed frame in the bedroom, which caused a few bruises; the frame surrounded the mattress. Bedrooms/BathroomsSee above regarding beds. There was one shower room, which appeared to be newly tiled and modern. KitchenThe kitchen was very suitable for cooking evening meals. There was enough of everything for us to use in the way of cutlery, crockery, glassware, etc. The kitchen had a large fridge, microwave and cooker. Problems or BonusesNone. Agency and Representatives (and price)Gloria & Marcel were very friendly and easy to talk to. Correspondence (emails) before we arrived was very thorough and useful and was a great being picked up & taken back to the airport. They gave us a map of Pisa on arrival and information about the area, which was all very useful. They made sure we were okay before they left and we really appreciated it when they popped back to give us extra blankets (as it was late January and had a cold spell). Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? From an apartment point of view, yes, but due to the location we won't be coming back because we didn't get a good nights sleep due to the noisy traffic especially first thing, during the rush hour and overnight. Here are some things that it would have been good to have during our stay:
Things to do in this areawe visited the Tower of Pisa, travelled to other local towns via the local railway (which was very reasonably priced) and travelled into Pisa town to see the sites & travel to Florence. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
