Apartments on estate just outside Siena, Tuscany Siena WhenApril, 2007, 3 nights LocationThis apartment/hotel (we stayed in ground floor apartment) is about 20 minute walk from Siena. The grounds are very peaceful and pleasing. The walk to Siena is nice - slightly uphill, but not bad at all and I was pushing a stroller. Nearby AmenitiesThe COOP, a very large grocery store is minutes away by foot. Not much else nearby. However, the locale has a small bar that serves drinks and snacks and has Internet access, and is open until 11. Restaurants and all else we travelled to Siena. The House/ApartmentThe buildings are modern - one is hotel rooms the other houses apartments. It was very peaceful and quiet with one exception. If you are on the bottom floor of the apartment building, which we were, movements by people above are very loud. Our friends in the apartment next to us were awakened by early risers above them. I suggest getting a first floor apartment. It's better to be the "awaker" than the "awakee" in my opinion. The apartment was very clean and functional. A nice front area with a dining table. The kitchen was nice and large enough to prepare foods. The grounds are beautiful and expansive, with lots of greenery, trees, flowers, etc. It has a pool, but it was closed. There are lots of little lizards running around the grounds, which several kids including our daughter enjoyed watching and following. GardenSee above. Very nice and private. There is also an outdoor patio area with several cafe tables set up to sit and drink wine while watching the sun go down. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasBed, sofa, chairs, etc. were all in good shape and comfortable. The place was very clean all around. Bedrooms/BathroomsRoomy, clean and comfortable. Nice shutters and lots of light. The bathroom was cozy but very new and clean. KitchenVery nice open kitchen - new and clean. We prepared some basic stuff - made coffee, cut bread, cheese, tomatoes, etc., and it was more than adequate. Problems or BonusesNo problems except for Internet being down one day. The place was better than I expected. Parking is free and ample, and there is a communal washing machine that came in handy. Also, good free treats in bar area! We skipped breakfast option, but it looked yummy. Agency and Representatives (and price)Staff was great. Simone was the guy there when we arrived and he spoke perfect English. Another person, a drummer in a local rock band, was equally friendly and helpful. He even let me check my email on his computer when the Internet service went down. Simone gave us some restaurant recommendations that were right on. We paid about €160 per night. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Without a doubt, yes. Things to do in this areaSiena! Siena! Siena! We spent a lot of time in the city centre and did day trip driving through Chianti, which is very close and doable in a day from the apartment.
