2bed/2bath apartment near Taormina, Sicily When3/31/07-4/6/07, one week LocationThe location was outside a village. It was in a beautiful country setting with a view of Mt Etna. It was very private and peaceful. The property had a lot of outside areas to wander or sit. Some overlooked a waterfall. Nearby AmenitiesYou had to drive to stores and restaurants, because the road was very winding and narrow. There was a restaurant next to the villa, however we did not have a chance to eat there. The town was a five minute drive away and had a good pizzeria and bakery. The House/ApartmentThe building was historical, but had been renovated with modern conveniences. There were three villas, plus the owners'. The villa was beautifully decorated and also had an art gallery in it. The owners are artist and it was fun to see their work. The property was very peaceful and quiet. GardenEach villa had it's own beautiful, private outdoor area and there were also some wonderful shared areas and a pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in good shape and the villa was very clean. There was a cleaning service every other day, also. There was plenty of room for the four of us. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedrooms were very nice and the beds comfortable. The bathrooms looked brand new and had all modern conveniences. KitchenThe kitchen was small, but adequate. We did not cook there, but we would have been able to if we wanted. Problems or BonusesThe owners were wonderful and were able to help us plan our daily itinerary and give us driving directions. They also arranged our jeep tour of Mt Etna. Agency and Representatives (and price)This is the second time we have used this agency and they were very helpful. The staff speaks English. The villa was everything I thought it would be and more form the information. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely stay there again and spend more time at the villa and less sightseeing. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Things to do in this areaWe did a lot of sightseeing. We went to Taormina twice, Agrigento, Siracusa, Giadini and did a great jeep tour of Mt. Etna, which I highly recommend. We ate at a variety of restaurants since we were on the road so much. We did not find a place we did not like. There was shopping for pottery everywhere and they will ship. Most of the shopping is very touristy. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
