2bed/2bath apartment near Colosseum, Rome WhenApril - May, 2007, Three Nights LocationPerfect location, just down the street from the Colosseum. You can see the Colosseum from both bedroom windows, what a treat! We felt very secure in the location. The apartment building is sitting on a one-way private street, which was not very busy. Nearby AmenitiesThe location is close to EVERYTHING, groceries around the corner, Internet just down the street, coffee house and restaurants just a few feet away. Our favorite restaurants include Luzzi (the Cannelloni was excellent!!) and Le Neumachie. Luzzi has a wonderful outdoor seating area, and Le Neumachie is better for indoor eating. The House/ApartmentThe building is in excellent shape. The apartment is on the third floor, very nice furnishings. The windows are double paned, so absolutely no noise at nighttime. GardenThere was a shared courtyard, but no tables or chairs for sitting. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furnishings are in great shape, and are extremely comfortable. The apartment was spotless. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds are large, and extremely comfortable (something I missed at our hotel in Florence). The bedrooms are very nicely furnished and decorated; Natalia obviously put a lot of effort into making the bedrooms look and feel nice. The bathrooms had nice towels, and GREAT water pressure! KitchenThe kitchen is small, but very usable. It was furnished with everything we needed: coffee pot, pots, pans, dishes, glasses etc. We didn't come to Rome to cook, so we only made coffee in the morning. Problems or BonusesNatalia and Walter greeted us at the apartment. They provided us with a cell phone to use for contacting them with any questions or problems. They also stocked the kitchen with coffee, biscuits, and jam, very nice. Agency and Representatives (and price)Natalia and Walter were wonderful to deal with. They both spoke fluent English. There was a basket of information that they put together regarding things to do, restaurants, maps, and more. Natalia spent quite a bit of time with us going over the information. The website accurately reflected the apartment; there were no bad surprises, just good ones. Natalia also arranged transportation to the train station for us. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would not hesitate to recommend this rental to anyone, including my best friend. The apartment was exactly what we needed, and more. Things to do in this areaAs mentioned above, favorite restaurants include Luzzi and Le Neumachie. We tried a pizza place closer to the Colosseum on the same street (not on the list of recommended restaurants provided to us), but it was not good at all. Later that same day we went to Luzzi (again). This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
